You’ve heard of a Cock & Bull story. Well, that allegedly originates from the two neighbouring coaching inns at the heart of this historic little town, on the borders of Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. Originally a Roman settlement, situated on the famous Watling Street (now the A5), Stony Stratford once boasted its own Queen Eleanor Cross. The town was a frequent stopping place for numerous medieval kings and princes.
This pretty town still retains its historic charm. You’ll find it dotted with a variety of little shops, bars and restaurants. Few can believe that such a contrasting oasis of calm can be found so close to the modern business hub of Milton Keynes City centre.
